«If we opened people up, we would find landscapes»
Starting from this phrase by filmmaker Agnès Varda, the project explores the archive as a device of transformation.
Working with the glass plates by local photographer Miquel Martí Florensa preserved at the Arxiu Comarcal de l’Urgell in Tàrrega, Catalonia, the project investigates portraits and everyday scenes marked by the passage of time and material deterioration. Through photography, these archival images are approached as abstract landscapes, bringing their material fragility and latent forms to the foreground. /
The archival image thus becomes a space of transit between memory and loss, between the individual and the landscape, revealing the fragility of both matter and the communities it contains.
